Aptos was once labeled a “narrative chain”, more hype than substance. But heading into 2025, @Aptos is quietly shifting into something more tangible: a real onchain infrastructure layer, built to move actual money at scale. After watching the Rollup interview with @AveryChing (Aptos co-founder), here are 5 reasons Aptos caught my attention as stablecoins and RWAs start driving real capital flows onchain 🧵👇

1️⃣ The USD1 + stablecoin catalyst The launch of USD1 by World Liberty Financial (WLFI) on Aptos in Oct 2025 marked a clear inflection point. USD1 is now a ~$2.68B stablecoin, fully backed by US T-bills and cash equivalents – built for compliance, settlement, and scale. WLFI chose Aptos for a simple reason: speed and cost efficiency. USD1 is explicitly positioning itself to compete with USDT and USDC, which still dominate Ethereum and Tron but struggle with fees and latency. Today, Aptos supports major stables like USDT, USDC, PYUSD, and processes $60B+ in monthly stablecoin volume. Despite that, Aptos still holds only ~0.35% of total stablecoin market share – meaning the growth runway is far from saturated.

2️⃣ WLFI as a TradFi → DeFi bridge USD1 is only the entry point. WLFI (backed by the Trump family ecosystem) is actively building consumer and institutional rails on Aptos, including: > A crypto-linked debit card (Apple Pay integration) to blur the line between crypto and everyday spending > Plans to tokenize real-world assets like real estate and energy assets directly on Aptos This isn’t speculative talk. Aptos already has ~$600M in RWAs onchain, ranking among the leading blockchains by RWA transaction volume. That signals a broader shift: traditional assets aren’t experimenting anymore, they’re deploying.

3️⃣ Backing from major financial institutions Aptos is also seeing growing validation from legacy finance: > Franklin Templeton integrated Aptos into their tokenized money market fund (FOBXX) > BlackRock deployed its BUIDL digital liquidity fund on Aptos – the only non-EVM chain selected > Apollo, Ondo, and Circle,... have all invested and partnered within the ecosystem As a result, Aptos now custodies $1B+ in stablecoins, alongside hundreds of millions in tokenized TradFi assets. That combination matters: stable settlement + institutional assets + compliant rails.

4️⃣ Strategic alignment with crypto giants Beyond TradFi, Aptos is also plugging directly into crypto’s core liquidity hubs. Binance not only listed APT early, but used USD1 on Aptos to settle a $2B investment deal with Abu Dhabi’s MGX fund Aptos also integrated deeply with Chainlink, with CCIP now live, connecting Aptos to 60+ blockchains. This allows: > DeFi protocols to move stablecoins into Aptos seamlessly > Institutions already using Chainlink to access Aptos without rebuilding infrastructure That’s a critical step toward multichain liquidity convergence, rather than siloed ecosystems.

5️⃣ Ecosystem momentum + new infra layers By mid-2025, Aptos TVL crossed $1B, up roughly 700% YoY. Network stats are no longer theoretical: > 20M+ accounts > ~4B total transactions > ~1.5M daily active users DeFi continues to expand with protocols like Amnis, Aries, Thala, while Aptos Labs is also pushing core infrastructure: + Decibel, a DEX optimized for stablecoins and derivatives + Shelby, a decentralized storage layer aimed at AI and social applications These aren’t side experiments; they’re missing primitives for scaling real usage.

6️⃣ My take @Aptos is slowly shedding the “narrative chain” label and positioning itself as infrastructure for real onchain capital flows. Challenges remain: > Competing for users and liquidity against entrenched networks > Maintaining security at higher throughput > Navigating increasingly strict regulatory environments But if current momentum holds, Aptos has a credible path to becoming a core Layer 1 for stablecoins and RWAs... A chain where dollars and real-world assets actually move, as crypto converges with traditional finance.
