This is an important consideration when using VPNs, especially those running on decentralized networks like @Nym (which I like a lot, as explained in my article)

Exit node (only exit nodes) can read unencrypted data sent to the websites (or web apps) during your connection

HTTPS and other encryption systems protect the user from that, so the risks are minimal, but they do exist (a very strong reason not to use unencrypted protocols like HTTP when using a VPN or public wifi)

Centralized services like Mullvad have the same issue, but the problem with decentralized networks is that they are permissionless → anyone can run a node that may be selected as your exit gateway, including a threat actor

On the bright side, NymVPN allows you to select the entry and exit servers you want, meaning you can point to one you trust or even run your own server (the best setup)
