Around New Year's, a sister was looking for a job and asked me how Probable was. I said Probable belongs to the Pancake system and is about the size of a state‑owned enterprise. I don't know the upside, but the downside is relatively high. It turned out that a couple of days ago Probable merged into @predictdotfun, so my sister probably ran into a departmental reorganization right after joining. Predict is from the same batch as us @hertzflow and @EASYResidency Including Predict, that cohort had five teams on the prediction market track, which shows how much Binance internal values this sector. So regardless of what the market says, I already guessed back then that the “favorite son” position was still far from settled and the internal race was not over yet. But with the announcement of this “acquisition,” the race basically got a clear direction. Pancake itself is a state‑owned enterprise, and part of its business being “acquired” likely means central resources are being consolidated to “grow bigger and stronger.” In 2021, the State‑owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of China led the formation of China Rare Earth Group, ostensibly acquiring the rare‑earth divisions of the two giants 五矿 and 中铝. The acquisition was for show; the real substance is gaining pricing power through integration, which eventually sparked the US‑China rare earth war. Coincidentally, Aster also started from a nominal “integration and acquisition.” Thus crypto is an interdisciplinary field, so why do finance graduates and Wall Street elites keep failing in this industry? In the end, it’s because they never attended the central Party School.
