This weekend, I want to take a step back and look at the TON ecosystem for a moment. Uncomfortable truth: @ton_blockchain | $TON has distribution most crypto projects can only dream of… but the conversion is still weak. – Telegram now has 1B+ monthly users. – The TON Wallet already passed 100M sign-ups. If this was a normal crypto project, those numbers would already justify a multi-tens-of-billions valuation. But the onchain reality looks very different, today the $TON eco still sits around ~$60-70M TVL. That’s extremely small compared to the scale of distribution it has. So what’s actually happening? From what I see, there are a few structural reasons. First, Telegram users ≠ crypto users. – Most people open Telegram to message, read groups, or follow communities. – Very few of them actually want to interact with DeFi, NFTs, or onchain applications. – The Tap-to-Earn and mini-app boom in 2024-2025 temporarily pushed massive traffic into $TON. – But many of those projects were short-lived speculation loops. Users came for airdrops, when rewards disappeared, activity disappeared too. Second, tokenomics created constant supply pressure. – While demand didn’t grow fast enough, $TON circulating supply kept increasing through unlocks and emissions. – That’s one reason the token dropped from around $4 in 2025 to roughly $1.3 today, even though Telegram itself kept growing. There’s also the broader market context, crypto sentiment has been weak. Bitcoin’s volatility and risk-off behavior across altcoins pulled liquidity away from ecosystems that still depend heavily on retail participation. And TON still carries platform dependency risk. Because the chain is deeply tied to Telegram, any regulatory pressure or platform issue can immediately impact market confidence. So IMHO the current situation is a bit paradoxical: $TON might be one of the best distribution infras in crypto, yet it still struggles to convert that distribution into real economic activity. But this is also why I’m not fully bearish on it. There are several catalysts developing that most people ignore. TON recently launched a L2 payment network beta, aiming to enable gasless txns inside apps. If this works properly, TON could become a backend payment layer for Telegram mini-apps instead of just another DeFi chain. Then there’s the @AlphaTONCapital partnership involving NVIDIA GPUs, targeting confidential AI computation on the network. This pushes TON toward AI infra and confidential compute, which is a very different narrative from the earlier Tap-to-Earn era. Another interesting piece is $BTC Teleport, a planned bridge that would bring Bitcoin liquidity directly into the TON eco. If that integration works smoothly, it could significantly expand TON’s DeFi surface area. Specific projects within TON 👇👇 – @ston_fi | $STON: A foundational DeFi protocol. enables other projects to integrate seamlessly. – @realDogsHouse | $DOGS: Memecoin driving community engagement through viral marketing and airdrops – @Duck_Chain: An AI-focused chain tailored for Telegram mini-apps, combining blockchain with AI agents – @the_vertus: A custodial wallet simplifying crypto access within Telegram. – @getgemsdotio - Native TON NFT marketplace, trade NFT tickers here. And from a market perspective, $TON is also sitting in a zone that historically tends to attract attention. After falling roughly 60-70% from its highs, the token is now around a $3B mcap with daily volume near $70-80M. For an eco connected to a 1B-user platform, that valuation is not obviously expensive. So my current view is that @ton_blockchain doesn’t have a distribution problem. But it has a conversion problem obviously. If even 1-2% of Telegram users eventually become real onchain participants, the entire TON eco could change dramatically. But until that conversion actually happens, the market will keep pricing TON as potential.
