🧵 Stellar is quietly becoming one of the most active settlement layers for real-world assets and stablecoins. While much of crypto still debates narratives, Stellar continues to ship products, onboard institutions and grow measurable adoption. A look at Q1 2026. 👇 For years, @StellarOrg was mainly associated with cross-border payments. Today, the network is evolving into something much broader. Stablecoins, tokenized assets, DeFi applications, configurable privacy and machine payments are beginning to converge on the same infrastructure. The numbers are becoming difficult to ignore. According to Stellar’s Q1 2026 report, the network’s Real World Asset market capitalization reached $1.52 billion. That represents a 91% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 219% increase year-over-year. Stablecoin activity also continued to expand. Stellar’s stablecoin market capitalization climbed to $297 million, while annualized stablecoin transfer volume reached $5.5 billion. At the same time, users continue to settle transactions for an average cost of only $0.0003, while network uptime remained at 99.99%. DeFi is growing as well. Total Value Locked on Stellar increased to $174.4 million, more than doubling compared to the same period last year. But perhaps the most interesting development is happening outside traditional DeFi. @StellarOrg is increasingly positioning itself as a settlement layer for multiple forms of value transfer. Circle issues liquidity through $USDC. Stellar settles that liquidity globally within seconds. @MoneyGram enables people to move between physical cash and digital dollars. Projects such as @Zebec_HHQ distribute liquidity through payroll and consumer applications. And initiatives such as the Machine Payments Protocol and HTTP 402 may eventually allow autonomous software agents to transact with one another. Privacy is evolving too. Through the introduction of configurable privacy solutions such as X-Ray, institutions may gain the ability to choose how much transaction information they reveal, rather than being forced into an all-or-nothing approach. As Stellar CEO @DenelleDixon recently said: “Privacy and openness aren’t binary. They’re a spectrum.” There may never be a single blockchain that wins everything. Payments, tokenization, remittances, AI commerce and capital markets all have different requirements. But Stellar increasingly appears to be building infrastructure designed to support several of those industries simultaneously. Perhaps that is why the ecosystem keeps growing.
