    this is a much more interesting privacy primitive than private payments. @VitalikButerin anonymous posting is the surface-level demo. the deeper idea is that users can stay private while still being subject to public rules: eligibility checks, rate limits, moderation windows and penalties. that could unlock anonymous reputation, sybil-resistant access, private voting and communities where privacy does not mean zero accountability. the question I find most interesting is the next step: can moderation itself become verifiable? can a censor prove that a flag followed a public policy, rather than an opaque discretionary judgement, without deanonymizing the user? stage 2 does not solve ux or adoption, but it makes aztec a meaningfully more credible environment for exploring this design space.

    Yesterday, Vitalik bought a small amount of $AZTEC to pay fees on the Aztec Network as he is experimenting on the network (there’s also a repo on his official GitHub related to it) A few years ago, news like this would have easily sent the token up 100%+ but now it couldn’t even sustain a 5% pump Considering they've raised $183M, spent 8+ years building, and still have a total FDV below $150M, this might be one of the most cursed tokens out there

    If you're a Aztec alpha v4 user, you might want to pay attention. The migration to v5 seems to come a little earlier than expected and may reveal v4 vulnerabilities. Stay safe!

    Notice to Alpha V4 users: V5 is coming, which hardens the network's security and ramps up performance. However, once V5 is brought to governance, any vulnerabilities that could affect the V4 network will be publicly visible. As a precaution, users should remove funds currently held on Aztec V4 before June 25th. No action is required if you are staking or holding the $AZTEC token.

It did, and then found a SECOND, unreported critical: prove a deposit, tag it "not a deposit", L1 skips the debit, withdrawal works. Harmless now, vault's already empty. https://t.co/5obI64sb9V
