Let me set the scene.

January 2014: Dogecoin just went viral as the first "meme coin."

Some anonymous devs thought: "What if we made another one... but with KANYE?"

They created Coinye West - a cartoon Kanye wearing shades as the logo.

The devs were bold about it.

They literally tweeted at Kanye announcing the coin.

"Hey Kanye, we made a cryptocurrency with your face on it!"

They thought he'd embrace it.

"Kanye loves being a trendsetter, he'll think it's cool."

Biggest miscalculation ever.

January 7, 2014: Emergency launch.

Instead of waiting until Jan 11, they released early.

Dropped the source code and mining software.

Thousands started mining Coinye immediately.

The devs thought: "It's decentralized now. They can't stop it."

But Kanye didn't care about the rebrand.

January 8, 2014: Full lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court.

Kanye sued:

- The devs (anonymous)
- Domain registrars
- Hosting providers
- Even AMAZON for web hosting

The problem? The devs were anonymous.

Kanye's lawsuit literally said:

"Defendants have cowardly sought to remain anonymous using privacy services."

But his lawyers did expedited discovery.

Started unmasking people one by one.

Found names. Found emails. Found locations.

But here's the craziest part:

The devs admitted to pre-mining.

Despite promising a "fair launch," they secretly reserved 0.37% of supply.

They claimed it was for "legal costs."

Turns out they KNEW Kanye would sue.

And they dumped on everyone when he did.
