I don't even want to go into depth; here's what an analysis in less than 5 minutes can reveal to you. Core claims they have more than 2,657 BTC locked, which should give a TVL of at least $240M. When we look on-chain, the #TVL is only $40M. But $40M is already not bad, you might say, and that's true. However, when we dig deeper we see that this TVL mainly comes from two protocols: one that is solely based on Core's #blockchain with a $28 TVL, and another that spans three chains, but we will only consider the one on the Core network. Thus it is #CoreLend, a borrowing and lending protocol. Looking at its data, we see that there are 228M Core locked, representing $28M, and 0.008 BTC, representing about $800. In other words, they locked Core themselves to inflate the TVL, and the actual value locked on the network is actually less than $5,000. I often make statements with sometimes harsh terms, I admit, but it's because I see so many scams that it frustrates me, and when I try to warn the community, it turns against me 😅 and no one defends me.
