I got to sit down yesterday with @macrozack from @bitstarterAI to unpack how crowdfunding and incubation are being built directly into Bittensor $TAO...
...here’s what we got into 👇
00:30 — @macrozack’s background & why Bitstarter was created for Bittensor subnets
03:20 — The core problem: great subnet teams lack capital, advisors, and launch structure
06:40 — How @bitstarterAI incubates subnets (design, validation, incentives, launch support)
17:40 — Crowdfunding mechanics: pledging $TAO for discounted subnet alpha over time
21:00 — Subnet slot strategy: brokering fair deals instead of buying slots outright
23:30 — Case studies: @alpha_core_ai, @QuasarModels ,@djinn_gg (600 TAO raised in ~51 minutes)
39:40 — What’s next: live launches, new financial primitives, onboarding top external teams

BitStarter: Crowdfunding Subnets on Bittensor TAO! https://t.co/u91l6oOWLS
We consider three main stages a $TAO subnet can be in, and to be fair, most subnets are still in stage one.
Stage 1: The product
It doesn’t matter what the product is, whether it’s compute, vision, or leads, every subnet’s first priority should be building a stellar product.
Bittensor lays the rails perfectly, in our opinion, to do this in a way no traditional company can replicate.
We like to summarize it as: better, faster, cheaper.
It’s completely fine that most subnets are still in this stage, Bittensor is still young.
That said, the ecosystem is designed to punish subnets that stay here too long, especially since TAOflow dynamics kicked in.
Stage 2: Early adopters
Stage two is the well-known early adopters phase.
This is a very hard stage to reach, arguably the hardest transition is moving from stage 1 to stage 2.
A good example is Ridges: a strong team and a solid product, but converting that into actual monetization is difficult.
Some other subnets that are close to, or slowly entering, this
That’s pretty good actually
