One small mistake cost a user $163,800. I shared this story because I have seen this scam before. It even happened to me in the past. The attack is called a dusting attack. Here is what happened. The user had been sending TON to a wallet he trusted. Everything worked smoothly before. First transfer. 10,000 TON. Around $13,000. Second transfer. 9,000 TON. Around $11,700. Both transactions went through without any issue. The address stayed in his transaction history. It looked familiar. Later something strange appeared in the wallet. Two tiny transfers. 0.0001 TON. 0.0001 TON. The amount looked meaningless. Most people ignore transfers like this. But they were not random. Scammers sent those micro transfers on purpose. This tactic is called a dusting attack. The goal is to plant a fake wallet address inside the victim’s transaction history. The fake address looked almost identical to the real one. Same first characters. Same last characters. At a quick glance it looked correct. Later the user prepared a large transfer. 126,000 TON. Around $163,800. Instead of pasting the original address, he opened his transaction history and copied the address he recognized. It looks familiar. Seconds later the transfer was confirmed. The money went straight to the scammer. $163,800 disappeared. Then something unexpected happened. The scammer sent most of the funds back. 116,000 TON returned. Around $150,800. But he kept 10,000 TON. Around $13,000. Along with the transfer, the scammer left a message. "I'm sorry, but this is far too much. Please take it back. I know this is a serious amount of money. Peace." The victim recovered most of the funds. The mistake still cost $13,000. I share this because this type of attack is becoming common. I experienced a similar trick in the past. Here are simple safety rules. Never copy wallet addresses from transaction history. Always save trusted addresses inside your wallet address book. Check the full wallet address before sending funds. Do not rely on the first and last characters. Send a small test transfer before moving large amounts. Watch for unknown micro deposits in your wallet. Small transfers often signal a dusting attack. One quick check protects your funds. Always verify the address before pressing send.

A scammer received 126,000 TON from a whale, worth roughly $220,000 USDT, but later returned 116,000 TON (about $203,000 USDT) and kept 10,000 TON (around $17,000 USDT) as “compensation.” What happened is that when a whale was about to send coins, they accidentally copied the wrong wallet address from the transaction history. This happened because the scammer had created a similar‑looking address and had previously sent a small amount of a coin to it, making it appear legitimate The whale wasn’t paying attention; he saw the familiar first characters of the address and the last and copied it without checking. He then sent 126K TON to the scammer by mistake. When the scammer received the funds, he took 10K TON, then sent back 116K TON and even dropped a message in the transaction saying: “Sorry, the money is too much.
