AND THE GITHUB HANDLE THAT IDENTIFIED HIM HAD BEEN PUBLICLY LISTED ON THE LAZARUS GROUP'S OWN WEBSITE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2025.. METAMASK HIRED HIM IN MARCH 2026.. THE MOST WIDELY USED CRYPTO WALLET ON EARTH ALMOST WOKE UP ONE MORNING WITH EVERY USER'S FUNDS GONE AND THE ATTACK VECTOR WAS A JOB APPLICATION!!! the developer applied through a third-party service provider.. passed whatever screening existed.. got hired.. received access to MetaMask's core GitHub repositories.. wrote production code for nearly a month.. and was contributing to the wallet that secures billions of dollars in user assets before anyone checked the one thing that would have caught him immediately.. his GitHub handle.. imyugioh.. was listed on https://t.co/ugXJj55cKl.. the Lazarus Group's own public website.. since September 2025.. six months before MetaMask hired him in March 2026.. not buried in a classified intelligence database.. not flagged in a private threat intelligence feed that requires a subscription and a security clearance.. on a public website.. that anyone with a browser and thirty seconds could have found.. MetaMask did not check it.. now look at every job this developer held before MetaMask.. Ankr.. Blueberry Protocol.. DEPO.. Pickle Finance.. Harmony.. five protocols.. all five suffered exploits.. the developer's resume is a map of crypto hacks and he used it to get hired at the largest non-custodial wallet in the world.. MetaMask caught it.. revoked all access immediately.. paused product releases.. ran a full code audit.. confirmed no backdoors were deployed and no user funds were compromised.. the outcome was the best possible outcome.. but here's the part that broke my brain.. the Drift exploit in April 2026 was $270 million lost because a North Korean developer joined the team, spent months building trust, and deployed malicious code from inside.. the same playbook.. the same nation-state.. the same social engineering methodology.. and MetaMask hired someone already publicly identified as Lazarus-linked six months after that exploit was widely covered in every crypto security newsletter on earth.. MetaMask has a security team.. MetaMask has resources.. MetaMask is one of the most scrutinized protocols in the space.. now think about every small DeFi protocol with three contributors and no dedicated security function.. every bridge with a team of five that hired a developer through a Telegram referral.. every layer 2 project that got a GitHub pull request from someone with a convincing portfolio and checked nothing beyond the code quality.. the North Korean developer who almost took down MetaMask had a public listing on the Lazarus Group's own website.. the ones who already got inside the small protocols.. probably did not make that mistake..

Wonder if @solflare has had any close calls like that....? TBH that is probably not the only one, and it is not MetaMask or Consynsus fault. State actors work for years to get into pivotal roles and the level they go to. Surprised he was found so soon, hats off to MM for that.
