OpenGov is currently voting on upgrading Polkadot to runtime 2.2.1. This enables Phase 0 of the launch of the Bulletin Chain, a new system chain for ephemeral storage, used to support Proof-of-Personhood, the Hand-Off Protocol, and other general purpose use cases.

My argument for why the future will be *multi-chain*, but it will not be *cross-chain*: there are fundamental limits to the security of bridges that hop across multiple "zones of sovereignty". From https://t.co/3g1GUvuA3A: https://t.co/tEYz8vb59b

Imagine if your phone's App Store, your browser, and your bank account were all one secure, decentralized thing that nobody owns or controls. That's what the new Polkadot $DOT is building. Here's the thing most people miss about the current internet: you don't actually own any of it. You rent it. Your apps live on Apple and Google's stores, subject to their rules. Your data lives on Amazon's servers, subject to their pricing. Your money lives in a bank's database, subject to their hours, their fees, and their willingness to serve you. Pull any of those threads and your digital life unravels. This is fine, until it isn't. Accounts get frozen. Apps get removed. Services shut down. Entire countries get cut off. The alternative being built right now is a shared computer the world runs together. Think of what AWS did for Web2... it gave every developer compute, storage, and networking as a service so they could focus on building. Now imagine the same thing, but: • No company owns it • No country can shut it down • You can verify it's behaving correctly • Money is built in at the protocol level, not bolted on Apps built on it are distributed, so they keep running even when individual nodes fail. They're verifiable, so users don't need to trust the platform. They're resilient, so no single law can end them. And they're financially native, so payments aren't an integration... they're a primitive. That's not a small idea. That's the foundation of the next internet. Still early. Still learning. But the vision is clicking, and it's worth watching.

A lot of comments saying DeFi hacks are mostly social engineering. 5 out of 6 hacks this month were code exploits (list below). DeFi protocols right now are a unique sandbox where you can test exploit techniques with near-zero consequences, and if it works - you walk away with millions. Code exploits, April 2026: > Rhea Finance (Apr 16) - slippage check in margin trading summed intermediate swap outputs without tracking token reuse between steps > Hyperbridge (Apr 13) - MMR proof replay minted fake bridged DOT on Ethereum > Dango (Apr 13) - smart contract bug in bridge aggregator > Aethir (Apr 9) - missing access control on ownership transfer. Attacker just called the function and took over the contract > Silo Finance (Apr 3) - oracle integration vulnerability Social engineering: > Drift (Apr 1) - compromised admin key via DPRK social engineering KelpDAO ($292M, Apr 18) is still under investigation - two possible vectors point to a code bug, one to key compromise. AI agents turned exploit hunting into mushroom picking after rain.

Here's why DeFi protocols keep getting hacked one after another 🧵 Every smart contract ever deployed is public code. For years, that was fine - understanding a complex protocol took mass expertise and time. The bugs were always there, but the cost of finding them was extremely high. AI collapsed the cost of code analysis. Finding exploits got 100x cheaper. Writing flawless code stayed just as expensive. And most contracts are never revisited for new potential attack vectors. Upgrading a live protocol means expensive new audits, new risk, new liability. No dev team wants to touch working code. So the bugs just sit there. The math has flipped: attacking is cheap, defending is expensive. Use AI to find an exploit, test it on a fork, and if it works - the risk of getting caught is near zero. Most exploiters walk away clean through mixers and bridges. Assume every contract with a vulnerability will eventually be exploited. The only real defense is formal verification - mathematically proving that the code ca

Ethereum Foundation-Backed 'Ketman' Uncovers 100 North Korean Hackers Infiltrating Crypto Projects According to @_FORAB, a recent Ethereum Foundation grant review highlighted "Ketman," a project dedicated to hunting down North Korean hackers infiltrating the crypto industry. The team reached out to roughly 53 projects, uncovering around 100 active DPRK IT workers. These operatives typically forge Japanese IDs to land remote Web3 tech gigs. Ketman is now actively assisting crypto teams in setting up "honeypots" during the interview phase to weed out these bad actors.
