    More chains should consider safeguards like this. As governance becomes increasingly chaotic, malicious actors can exploit validators who barely understand the technical basics of the chain they help control. A limited Security Council, combined with validator KYC and clear accountability, could make governance far safer. Some validators hold enormous power. That power should come with competence, transparency, and responsibility.

    ENS DAO Adds New Safeguard Against Malicious Proposals ENS (@ensdomains) DAO has approved a proposal activating its new Security Council for the next two years. The eight member council has the power to block malicious governance proposals after they pass, but before they are executed. The council operates with a 5 of 8 multisig and can only intervene during the two day timelock period. The council cannot move treasury funds, submit proposals, amend governance decisions, or overrule the DAO. Its authority lasts for two years unless extended by another vote.

    Wu reports that ENS DAO has passed a proposal to activate a new security committee with a two-year term. The committee consists of 8 members and uses a 5/8 multi-signature scheme, allowing it to cancel transactions identified as malicious before the two-day timelock expires after a governance proposal is approved. The committee has no authority to move treasury funds, submit or amend proposals, nor overturn DAO decisions; it can only exercise a veto in emergency situations as defined by the charter.
