    One of the research papers that preceded $KAS, “Accelerating Bitcoin's Transaction Processing. Fast Money Grows on Trees, Not Chains”, was discussed on https://t.co/FhlVQZtTng in December of 2013 where Aviv Zohar (@Avivz78) shared he and Yonatan’s (@hashdag) research on accelerating Bitcoin’s block times to 1s. “tl;dr : We suggest a protocol modification to the block chain that securely allows blocks to be generated around once per second, can handle over 200 transactions per second at these rates, and consumes under 0.5 MBps in terms of bandwidth (less at lower rates than 200 TPS). All of this with no increased susceptability to 50% attacks. This essentially solves the problem that caused Satoshi to set the 10 minute target for the block creation rate. We also analyze the number of transactions per second Bitcoin can handle with and without our modification.     Silverscript contracts running directly on $Kaspa L1 from a wallet is the kind of thing that makes you rethink what ‘smart contracts’ actually need. No EVM. No L2. No bloated state. Just UTXO + covenants. This could unlock a completely different design space

    Hot take: "PoW is too slow for real use." This was true in 2015. It's not true in 2026. #Kaspa does 10 blocks per second with sub second confirmation. That's faster than most PoS chains in practice. The "PoW = slow" meme is a decade out of date. Speed was a consensus design choice, not a PoW limitation. Bitcoin chose security margins over speed. Kaspa chose both.
