Tether Gold is recognized as a legitimate spot commodity at the Abu Dhabi financial center. Abu Dhabi Global Market has just recognized Tether Gold, symbol XAUT, as an accepted spot commodity, allowing licensed companies here to provide services related to tokenized gold. This is the next expansion step after Tether's USDT was recognized as a valid fiat-referenced token at this center. The total locked value of Tether Gold has tripled in a year, reaching about $2.86 billion. XAUT is also about to be used on the Ledn platform as collateral for loans. Tokenized commodities now account for nearly 13% of the global tokenized real-asset market.

Tether announced that its gold‑backed token Tether Gold (XAU₮) has been recognized by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and included in the “Accepted Spot Commodity” framework. ADGM‑licensed entities with the relevant regulatory approval can offer services related to XAU₮ under the regulatory framework. Tokenized assets aren't enough if they're only meant to be held. RWAs don't just need tokenization, they need a market structure. Once these assets support long/short positions, premiums, maturities, and dual-investment strategies, they stop being static assets that simply wait for price appreciation.
