The author is skeptical of MovitOn's blockchain logistics solution, questioning its necessity and actual value.

Seeing the MovitOn project reminded me of the days long ago when I worked as a PM for a German‑owned company.

At that time I was dispatched to a domestic equipment manufacturing firm, responsible for managing the entire supply chain—from design stage, production scheduling, packaging design, domestic logistics, overseas forwarding bids, to import‑export customs clearance.
(I was one of the few people in the country capable of this work, so I signed a short‑term contract that paid hundreds of millions of KRW over six months.)

Especially for industrial equipment projects, we had to ship equipment weighing hundreds of tons to overseas factories.

Usually, because of cost, we used cubic containers or 40‑ft containers for sea transport, but when mass‑production schedules were tight, we sometimes had no choice but to opt for air freight.

In those cases we resorted to chartering an entire cargo aircraft rather than using a standard freighter.

It was common for a single shipment to cost several billion won.

One of my roles in this process was to maximize loading efficiency.

Since the aircraft is roughly cylindrical and the cargo boxes are rectangular prisms, we had to fit as many pieces of equipment as possible into the limited space.

It was, in a way, like playing a giant game of Tetris.

However, no matter how optimal the loading, some residual space that cannot be utilized will inevitably remain due to the geometry.

And exactly at that point, an unexpected market existed.

Forwarding companies often asked for cooperation to load other parties' cargo into that leftover space, offering a sizable fee for it.

I even received requests to deliberately create more unused space.

Of course I did not accept such intentional requests, but the experience showed that the logistics industry contains far more inefficient and idle space value than one might think.

The problem MovitOn @MovitOn_P2P aims to solve seems to be close to this area.

It seeks to network idle space, idle time, and idle logistics assets to create a new market.

The concept itself is personally quite interesting to me.

However, I have held a relatively skeptical view for a long time regarding the combination of blockchain and logistics.

Previous projects like BitChain, Dikargo also talked about logistics industry innovation, but the tangible changes in the real industry were limited.

The reason is that the core issues of logistics are not merely about data storage or tracking.

Actual international logistics involves:

contract relationships
insurance
customs clearance
country‑specific regulations
forwarders
shipping lines
shippers
carriers

and a very complex web of stakeholders.

Therefore I always ask the same question:

"Why is blockchain needed?"

If the same service can be sufficiently implemented in a Web2 environment, why must we use blockchain?

Of course, advantages such as decentralization, data integrity, and transparency exist.

But in the real industry, cost reduction and operational efficiency matter far more than technological superiority.

In the end, I believe MovitOn's success depends not on the fact that it uses blockchain, but on whether it actually solves problems that cannot be solved without blockchain.

When I look at such projects, I always prioritize execution over technology.

Can this service truly be integrated into the complex international logistics process?

Do actual shippers, forwarders, and logistics companies have a reason to use it?

And is blockchain an essential infrastructure rather than a mere marketing tool?

I think the true value of the project will only become apparent when answers to these questions become clear.

Ultimately, the important thing is not blockchain itself but problem solving.

Whether MovitOn remains a grand narrative or becomes a service used by the real industry will depend on how much practical execution capability it can demonstrate moving forward.
