Right now holding $TAO and crypto feels like death by a thousand cuts. It sure feels like a bear market, not some “extended cycle,” and I honestly don’t care what people call it. Bear market, downtrend, whatever. The chart is ugly, people are scared, and every day it feels like we get another reason to doubt ourselves.

I went 25% cash a few days ago, then bought it back yesterday. I just couldn’t help myself 🙂 Maybe that was a mistake. I don’t really know.

The main reason I went back is subnets. They’re basically small businesses inside the network. They compete, they ship, and they attract attention. If you stake with them, you get real yield while the market is doing what markets do. If we go down from here, which we very well might, subnets help you ride the tide because that yield keeps compounding in the background.

That changes everything.

In a normal crypto down cycle, you just sit there and pray price comes back. In Bittensor, you can actually compound. You can grow your stack while sentiment is in the gutter. If you pick strong subnets and manage risk, you can come out the other side with more $TAO than you started with.

So yeah, morale is low right now. People are scared. That’s normal.

What’s not normal is having an internal engine that can keep working even when the chart looks dead. That’s what subnets are. That’s why I keep saying keeping everything in root is not optimal. The real alpha is in the subnet layer.

If you’re going to survive this stretch, focus on two things. Quality subnets and compounding. Everything else is noise.
