My late friend Meher told us in 2022 that cosmos is very bad for token. Dont cosmosify. Now Vitalik has independently discovered the many dangers of Cosmos
Woah, this is big news but not that shocking imo.
Last year (April 2025) we shared our intention to launch an EVM L2 on top of the existing @cosmos L1 implementation so we could preserve our Proof of Authority validator set and finally introduce smart contracts + DeFi to the Noble ecosystem. Our goal was to build a very ambitious form of an L2 with the hopes that we could simultaneously meet the needs of Cosmos users and create the environment stablecoin and RWA issuers needed to succeed on chain. It turns out that this L2 had far too many compromises... We quickly ran in to a number of hiccups:
- We found the operational complexity of running a single sequencer too burdensome. It didn't allow for true BFT assumptions on par with the PoA set on the Cosmos L1
- It was a regulatory / legal headache to figure out where to run the sequencer, who will run it, where it will be operated, etc
- We didn't find the security guarantees on par with the Cosmos L1 because users could bridge funds off the L2 and the L1 Po
